When traditional finance says no
A declined finance application is not the end of the road. Credit records, short employment history or self-employed income can all make a bank cautious, even when you can comfortably afford a monthly payment.
Rent-to-buy works differently. Instead of a loan, you rent the vehicle for an agreed period at a fixed monthly amount, and you have the option to buy it at the end of that period.
What you get with rent-to-buy
- No bank loan and no interest
- Fixed monthly payments for the rental period
- Roadside assistance included
- No monthly mileage or area restrictions
- Accident and theft cover included
- The option to upgrade every 18 months
What you need to apply
Our current application criteria are simple, and the same criteria apply whether you are salaried or self-employed.
- A valid South African driver's licence
- Minimum nett salary of R15,000 per month
- If self-employed, a minimum of 6 months in business
- A minimum deposit of R12,500, depending on the vehicle
These are our current requirements. Older articles and third-party sites may quote different figures — always work from the criteria published on this site. Approval and deposit requirements may vary depending on the selected vehicle and applicable terms.
